Reading this today brought up memories: Sixteen years after tearfully testifying in his Operation Court Broom bribery case, former Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Phillip Davis on Monday took the stand again, this time to deny charges that he pilfered grant money intended to help the poor. In the early 90s I was a Bailiff for Judge Melvia Green. I worked as a Bailiff for 5 1/2 years. I started in County Court Traffic Division and became Judge Green’s personal Bailiff through County, Criminal Circuit, Civil Circuit and Juvenile Court. When she got appointed to Appellate Court that’s Federal and I needed to by a US Marshal to continue working with her. She is a great Judge and great person, I was very luck to have known her and worked for her
But that’s how I came to be around during Courtroom Broom. I knew most of the Judges personally that got indicted on corruption charges. I even sold cell phones back then and installed it in one of the Judge’s car. This Judge beat the rap because he always had his Chambers and house swept for wire taps, so they did have any recordings of this Judge and that was the states strongest evidence against the Judges.
